The Montecristo Supremos Edición Limitada 2019, a 12,7cm by 55 ring gauge cigar, has been released at a special event in the Lanciano Forum in Castelraimondo, Italy.

Introduced in 2019 at the Habanos Festival, the new cigar will ship in special yellow boxes of 25 cigars bearing the Montecristo logo. With its heavy 55 ring gauge, the Supremos is one of the thickest Montecristos ever commercially produced. The size is known in Cuban factories as a Montesco (the same dimensions as a Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchill).

Montecristo is the largest-selling Cuban brand, with the No. 4 as Montecristo’s best-selling size. The brand is best known for its iconic No. 2, a torpedo-shaped cigar that is highly sought after by connoisseurs around the world and was named the 2013 Cigar of the Year.

This cigar is made of wrapper and filler leaves coming from the Vuelta Abajo region, that have been meticulously selected. After that, the leaves were aged for at least two years before being rolled according to the “Totalmente a Mano” tradition.

The Supremos is a Montesco, a vitola with cepo of 55 and measuring 127 mm long. This vitola has never been used before by Montecristo and is quite rare since only one brand uses it in its regular catalogue, Romeo y Julieta with the Wide Churchills. Montesco is mostly used for special productions such as Edición Regional and Gran Reserva. It has already appeared in the past as Limited Edition with the Hoyo de Monterrey Grand Epicure of 2013.
